Project Manager Gesa Ziemer awarded at OMAE 2015
HSVA engineer Gesa Ziemer (Arctic Technology Department) received the Subrata Chakrabarti Young Professional Award for her outstanding presentation and paper on “Ice model tests with a compliant cylindrical structure to investigate ice-induced vibrations”, presented at OMAE 2014 in San Francisco, USA. For this paper she was also awarded for the OMAE 2014 Best Paper of the Polar & Arctic Science & Technology Symposium.
The OMAE conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering is hosted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and takes place every year, gathering about 1000 engineers and researchers for presentations in several symposia related to marine engineering. The Subrata Chakrabarti Young Professional Award, named in commemoration of Dr. Chakrabarti for his distinguished contribution to OMAE conferences, is an all-conference award given to a young professional. The award recognizes both the originality and technical merit of the paper and the delivery of the presentation. As part of the award, Gesa Ziemer was invited to OMAE 2015 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, to present another paper and to receive her award plaques.
