Located in Hamburg, the private and independent Hamburg Ship Model Basin - HSVA - is a service and consulting company for clients in the maritime industry worldwide. Our products contribute to a greener, more sustainable usage of marine environments. We help reducing emissions from shipping and we increase safety in marine transportation. We are partners to our clients for the development of innovative, tailor-made solutions in shipping and offshore operations. For experimental investigations we are offering world class testing facilities. Responsibilities

  •  Project management including
    • Consulting services for customers
    • Preparation of quotations (technical and commercial)
    • Internal communication and coordination
    • Conducting model tests in different facilities and/or optimizing ship designs and performing numerical simulations
    • Monitor project progress and budget
    • Technical responsibility and analysis of results
    • Reporting and presentation in German and English
  • Development of customized solutions in your field of expertise
  • Research in one of the above mentioned areas

 Requirements 

  • At least second level university degree (MSc, PhD), with a specialization in fluid mechanics, naval architecture, marine engineering or related fields
  • Very good knowledge and professional experience in applied marine hydrodynamics with a deep background in at least one of the following fields
    • Ship lines design, optimization and CFD
    • Cavitation, hydroacoustics and propellers
    • Seakeeping and manoeuvring
    • Resistance and propulsion
    • Test equipment and special hydrodynamic tests
    • Arctic technology
  • Experience in experimental and/or numerical hydrodynamics
  • Team player and strong communicator
  • Self-motivated lifelong learner
  • Good computer skills, preferable programming skills
  • Prepared to work in a dynamic environment with experimental facilities, including project-related working hours
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills
  • Preferably German language skills or willingness to learn German
