Happy Birthday Port of Hamburg!

This year the Port of Hamburg celebrates its 834th anniversary - Happy Birthday from HSVA!

As ship model basin in Hamburg, we are of course proud of our port.

Did you know that one of the first container ships built in Germany was the "Elbe Express" for HAPAG and Norddeutscher Lloyd - today Hapag Lloyd - with a cargo capacity of 736 TEU? Today, the largest container ship in the world, Evergreen Line's "Ever Alot", holds 24,004 TEU.

Many container ships that enter and leave the port every day were tested at HSVA. The immense increase of the ship size continuously pushed the limits during their development and HSVA supported this process with its expertise for high performance hulls, propellers and rudders.

In other ways, too, we always take great pleasure in projects that are related to the port. Last year, we had the honor of designing a scale propeller for a model of the museum ship "Cap San Diego." And just recently, the tests for Baltic Workboats Ltd for the new patrol boats for Flotte Hamburg GmbH & Co. KG were conducted in our large towing tank.

If you want to join in the celebration, take a look at the diverse program.

And now we wish all the people who work in, at or for the port, or who are simply enthusiastic about it: Happy celebrations!
